Open access is made available to visit the site of Cainhoe Castle, an important Scheduled Ancient Monument comprising a medieval motte and bailey castle and associated moated site, fishponds and field system. It is situated on the south side of the River Flitt valley near Clophill, and is one of the best preserved motte and bailey castles in Bedfordshire. Access end date: 31/10/2016

The village of Clophill lies on the A6 to the south of Bedford.
There is limited street parking in Clophill - please park thoughtfully.
The site is accessed from the A507 Ampthill Road or via a footpath from Shefford Road in Clophill.
