Oakley Village at Oakley

Oakley has a large modern housing development and is a popular village for commuters to nearby Bedford and elsewhere. Nevertheless it still retains its older village character and contains a number of Bedford Estate cottages. The Duke of Bedford once owned Oakley House which overlooks the River Ouse and was remodelled by Henry Holland in about 1795.
