Crowhill Farm


The permissive bridleway, footpaths and open field access allows many long circular walks to be undertaken. The farmland is being managed to benefit the environment by restoring hedges and planting grass strips. Some fields will have crops specifically managed to feed wild birds. How To Get There By Car

From Bedford take the B660 and follow signs to Wilden or Ravensden.
Limited on road parking is available in Ravensden or Wilden. Please park thoughtfully.

This site can be accessed from Green Lane in Ravensden. There are also entrances from Shrubbery Road and from the rights of way in the area.

Length: 1½ and 2½ miles (2.4 km and 4 km)

Please note - A certain times of the year, cattle may be grazing in this area.
Surface Types: You can expect to walk across grass or uncultivated earth paths with and without ruts and mud and across cultivated farmland.
Linear Gradient: The steepest linear gradient is steeper than 1:6 for a short slope between Green Lane and the gate. There are also gradients of between 1:6-1:9, 1:10-1:13, 1:14-1:17 and of 1:18 or less.
Cross Falls: The steepest cross falls are between 1:10-1:15 and between 1:16-1:20. There are also cross falls of 1:26 or less.
Width Restriction: There is a minimum width restriction of 500mm on the footbridge.
Steps: There is a step on the footbridge with a maximum step height of 200mm.
Barriers: There are 3 kissing gates with a restriction of less than 1000mm, 6 one-way opening gates with a width greater than 750mm and one 1-step stile.
Refreshments: There is a pub - the Horse and Jockey - and a shop in Ravensden.
Public Toilets: None recorded.
Picnic Tables: None on route.
Seats: There is a bench as indicated on the map. .
