You can expect to walk across a hard but variable surface with loose, variable sized stones.
There is a very short section near the north east corner of Stewartby Lake that has a 1:10 - 1:13 linear gradient. The remainder of the walk has a 1:18 gradient. There is a large range of cross falls; from 1:9 or steeper down to 1:26 or less. The steepest section is 1:6 which is near the north east corner of Stewartby Lake, the width of the path is also reduced to 800mm.
There are 7 kissing gates that have a width restriction of between 1000mm and 1500mm.

BY TRAIN – Stewartby Railway Station, on the Bedford to London Thameslink line, is less than 1 mile from The Forest of Marston Vale. For timetable information, please telephone National Rail Enquiries 08457 484950.
BY CAR – Approximately 4 miles North East from junction 13 of the M1 or from Bedford follow signs for The Forest of Marston Vale from the A421 through Marston Moretaine. The forest is situated between Marston Moretaine and Stewartby.
